Please join us on Saturday, May 1st, at 6 PM CT, for the GI Research Foundation Diamond Anniversary Ball. This milestone event celebrates 60 brilliant years and honors Sy and Nancy Taxman with the first-ever Partners in Science Award.
Upon receiving exceptional and compassionate care from the late Joseph B. Kirsner, MD, fondly known as “Dr. Joe,” and GIRF’s lead scientific advisor, David T. Rubin, MD, Sy and Nancy developed lifelong friendships with the doctors, and sought to ensure the excellent standard of care that “Dr. Joe” personified.
The GI Research Foundation proudly honors the Taxmans for their enduring support of the University of Chicago Medicine Digestive Diseases Center. The Taxmans helped establish the Joseph B. Kirsner Endowed Fellowship and the Joseph B. Kirsner Endowment for Excellence. They underwrote a faculty reception area in honor of Dr. Kirsner, and provide ongoing support for UChicago Medicine Digestive Diseases Center research efforts to prevent, treat, and cure digestive diseases.
