Historically, the Larry A. Pogofsky All-Star Challenge features a celebrity softball game, home run derby, and kids’ baseball clinic with Chicago’s biggest sports legends. This year the event moved to “the greens.” Golfers enjoyed 18-holes with a celebrity athlete, grilled lunch and cocktails along the course, a 19th-hole reception with cocktails and heavy appetizers, and more. The All-Star Challenge kicked-off with a VIP Dinner on Sunday, September 26th, where guests mingled with celebrities and bid on original artwork featuring Fergie Jenkins and Jermaine Dye by Brittney Palmer.

Larry A. Pogofsky, one of the original White Sox investors, was a die-hard baseball fan who loved and respected every player that had the privilege to put on a major league uniform. Larry was also passionate about healthcare research thanks to a life-changing experience at the University of Chicago Medicine. He was a long-standing board member and former president of GIRF.  The GI Research Foundation is proud to present the All-Star Challenge, which honors Larry’s love for sports and continues his legacy funding important medical research.
