Thank you to our Donors!!

Thanks to your generous support, the GI Research Foundation raised more than $2 million in 2018.  We are so grateful for people like you who have made gifts in honor of your family members and friends who live every day with complicated GI diseases.  We are also thankful for you patients living who show your appreciation for your own physicians and clinicians through generous gifts.

These gifts helped fund several initiatives this year including A. Murat Eren’s collaborative research on how microbes interact, adapt, and evolve in their surroundings.  Ideally, this research will lead to the discovery of new connections between microbial communities and IBD.  Our annual ball funded metabolic cages that accurately assess how gut microbes impact metabolic disruption common in Inflammatory Bowel Diseases, Celiac Disease, and obesity. In addition, we were able to provide early funding for a groundbreaking study to determine the causes of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) by studying patients through the lens of ulcerative colitis (UC). This study uses advanced software and clinical modeling that were both developed by the digestive diseases faculty at the University of Chicago.

This life-changing research cannot happen without faithful supporters like you.  Thank you for your generosity that will find treatments and cures for our loved ones living with digestive diseases.
