More than 100 people broke a sweat at the Inaugural Associates Board “Team Up For GI Research” Spin Event at Hyde Park’s LA Fitness on February 23.
The $10,000 raised will go directly to the Associates Board Fellowship Program, supporting G.I. research investigators at University of Chicago Medicine.
With relatable spin-team names such as “We Brake for Diarrhea” and “I’d Like to Buy a Bowel”, teams rode in twenty-minute intervals. When not spinning, enthusiastic team members joined attendees to cheer on other riders.
The event also featured speakers from GIRF and University of Chicago Medicine, exhibits, and GIRF-sponsored informational tables — all of which educated attendees on digestive health, patient resources, and the work of GIRF.
