Will the GI Research Foundation have safety measures in place?
The GI Research Foundation will meet all event-related requirements of the CDC and Chicago Department of Public Health. As of July 2022, the City of Chicago is at medium risk for COVID-19.
- The Atlantic Ballroom at the Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel is nearly 6,000 sq. ft. with 20’ ceilings. The event will be limiting attendance to well below than 50 percent capacity (>375 attendees) to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
- The CDPH recommends people wear masks when indoors.
- Masks will be provided for those who request them on site and all event staff will wear masks.
- GIRF will provide hand sanitizer stations throughout the event space.
Are there any requirements to attend the Associates Board Annual Cocktail Party?
The GI Research Foundation’s medical advisors and Associates Board recommend and request that all attendees be vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus prior to attending the event. Furthermore, the medical advisors and Associates Board recommend a negative COVID-19 test result the morning of the event for any attendees who have had exposures or concerns of an exposure. If you experience any signs or symptoms of illness on the day of the event, we ask that you stay home. Symptoms of COVID-19 may include cough, congestion, headache, shortness of breath, or fever.
What if conditions change — could the event be canceled?
The GI Research Foundation’s top priority is the health and safety of guests. If it is determined that it is not safe to participate in an event, it will be canceled. Any cancellation decision will be communicated at least 24 hours prior to the event.
These recommendations have been developed in conjunction with our medical advisors at the University of Chicago Medicine. We will continue to monitor the situation and update these guidelines according to the recommendations of the city of Chicago and the CDC.
